Ride in the forest
Marty came by for a visit so we sat around for awhile and shot the bull.
Gassing up
Then we gassed the rigs and Marty put some water in his rig’s battery as it was low.
Gathering chairs
I wanted to move some chairs around up in the hills so we loaded one of them at my house on the quad runner and rode on up to our main spring and loaded two more of the chairs that were there.
From there we rode up to the Guerneville overlook. Marty was having troubles with the chairs moving around and blocking his view of the road.
We readjusted the chairs a bit and rode on up to our resting place at the top of the ridge where I wanted to put one of the chairs.
View and we decided it’s not smoke
The sky looked real smoky up there again today, but we talked about it and decided it was a water haze, like thin fog from the ocean just over those hills.
I dug a flat spot for one of the chairs and we took a break here for a bit, shooting the bull, of course.
We still had two more chairs to deliver to another spot across the property, so we tied them on to the quad and headed down the ridge. While going down a steep spot, the chairs fell down the front of the quad so we had to stop and redo how we fastened them on.
We did a better job tying them on this time, so had no more problems with the chairs.
This spot doesn’t look so bad in the photo but it had a bad slope to the left, so having more experience on the quad I rode it though, just to be safe.
We worked our way across the property to another overlook area that had two good chairs on it that I wanted to replace with the ones on the quad. We did that and I cut another place for the chairs there and then we walked out this trail to move the other two chairs to this spot out on the trail. I’ll be working on this trail later when the rains get the ground all nice and wet so it’s easier to dig. We were sitting here when a good breeze came up and blew that haze into us. It’s like an air conditioner and Marty only had a tee shirt on so it was cold so we headed out.
It wasn’t as cold once we got lower on the hill and out of the wind.
We made it back to my place and Marty headed for home and I headed for a short nap.
Nice day.
That last chair spot looks a wee bit precarious. Wind and rain won’t bother them?
Amazing. I guess that could be what happens in a forest. About life in which I have no clue.
If you dig into the part of the mountain that is part of the mountain and not the dirt you dig out, it is very stable and won’t wash out or slide away. I’m working on that trail and eventually it will be a bit wider.
