Wednesday May 8, 2024 Guerneville CA.
I got my ear plugs and was headed out the yard in Skiddy. I was headed up to my cousin’s place to do some repairs and erosion control on one of her roads and work on her driveway a bit to improve the drainage on it.
I had to drive Skiddy all the way to the top of the ridge where my cousin lives, a little over a half an hour or so.
Driveway
I tackled the driveway first and mostly just worked on getting the water to drain off it, when it rains, much better than it was.
Rutted road
I then worked on this road that was full of ruts. The ruts weren’t very deep. I filled them in and made sure no more rain water would come down this road.
This one was also badly rutted. I’d hopped to make this road better, but I ran into big rocks on the right in the ground, so had to fix it the best I could. It is much improved and the water now goes down on the left in a sorta ditch and not down the road anymore.
It was after five when I got done and headed towards home. I still had a couple things to do on the way home.
I exposed this blue clay a bit at a spring. Barry said he wanted some blue clay and I turned some up with Skiddy as I cleaned off the road.
I turned these nice chucks of blue clay up.
I continued on towards home doing a couple more repairs on the way.
This is the road I traveled headed towards home.
Tom
I was almost home when I ran into my brother Tom who was on his way up to see if I was still alive. I was out a bit later today.
Bumper scars
I had to stop to close the gate as I left our family property and noticed the bumper has some more scars on it from backing into big trees. The bumper seems to be strong enough and not bending when I hit things. So far, so good. It’s doing it’s job.
Nice day.
That IS blue. I looked up blue clay. You’re not in the Sierra Nevadas, right? Well, it’s an interesting substance. I’ll keep reading.
No, I’m in the coastal range. Blue clay is found near springs as the water is what makes it out of soil.
