Forest Ride, Harvesting Blue Clay and Raking Out a Road

Forest ride

Barry showed up this morning so we headed for the hills on our dirt bikes for a ride.

We rode all over the place and ended up at our rest area.resting

The view looking south, blue sky day, how boring. Just kidding.sky

After a good ride we headed back to  my place and replaced the dirt bikes for Hondo as Barry wanted to go back up into the hills and get some blue clay for a project he had.clay

After loading up with blue clay, we headed for the nearest spring that was close by. I wanted a drink of water and Barry wanted to wash some blue clay off his hands.spring

We made it back to  my place and Barry loads up his blue clay and took of for his home.buckets

I went in for a nap.

After the nap I did a bit of chair hopping around the yard with my chickens.chickens

Raking

There was still plenty of day  light left in the day, so I grabbed a rake and headed up to my cousin’s place where I was working on  her roads yesterday.hondo

I worked on raking all the marks left by Skiddy out of the road to make it look much nicer as it looked a bit rough, before I raked it out.road

That took about an hour and then I headed for home.

Nice day.

Aha. From what I read it sounds sort of like bentonite, which I am familiar with. Hope he has good luck with it. Thanks!

    • Bob says:

I guess you could say it’s similar, but bentonite comes in a sack and is powder until you add water then it turns to a sort of gel stuff, where blue clay is more of a solid like the green clay you played with in school, so the blue clay is more formable then bentonite. They both can seal water as water doesn’t pass through them.

I’m curious (my mother used the word nosy instead) about your brother’s blue clay project. Hm. Maybe that is nosy rather than just curious. Never mind.

    • Bob says:

Well for your courousity, his neighbor built a new fence that is directing water onto his property and he wants to use the blue clay to make a small dam on a fence board to stop the water from coming into his yard.
