Tom Visits and Moving the Bull Dozer To a Dryer Spot

Thursday December 24, 2020 Guerneville CA.

Blue sky day

I went out to feed and water the chickens this morning noting the nice blue sky.sky

Tom visits

I was expecting a visit from Tom M. around noon so I sat around and chair hopped until  he showed up. I used to work with Tom at HP and when I left I gave him my job.

Once he showed up it was non stop shooting  the bull as we had a lot to catch up on as this was the first time we talked since I left quite a number of years ago.

We did go for a short walk over to my brother’s garden for a bit.

Chickens out

We had a nice visit and he left in  the afternoon. I did a bit more chair hopping and let the chickens out into the front yard at 3.chickens

Fuelling up

Then I got the dozer’s fuel container out and filled it up with fuel to take up to the dozer.

The dozer was parked in a bad spot, no sun and since it’s just a big pile of metal water would condense on it a lot and it would be better if it was parked out in the sun so it has a chance to dry out a bit.

Here’s the dozer parked under the trees getting ready to get some fuel in it.dozer

Sunny spot

As long as I was going to move the dozer I had a a couple small jobs to do with it as far as fire rehab so I did that and parked the dozer in this sunny spot. The sun had already gone behind the hills to the west but there is sun here earlier in the day.quad

So now I’m ready for some more rain that is supposed to hit tomorrow.

Come home chickens

When I got home  my brother Tom says there’s some chickens stuck in the creek over by his house. It seems they go way over there then the dark sneaks up on them and makes them want to roost and they get stupid and don’t know how to find there way home

It took a bit of doing but we finally got the 4 of them started back in the right direction and they took off for home.

It wasn’t long before it got dark so I went on in for the day after shutting the chickens up.

Correction

I made a booboo yesterday and called these fruits loquats and was corrected by a few people. They are in fact Pineapple guavas.quava

Nice day.

    Hi Bob,

I discovered your page a while ago as I was looking for local fire info, thanks for your coverage and the work you and your brother have done.

I also worked for HP as a technician and an engineer in the signal (MID) lab. I may have had some interaction with you, I recognized your name when you mentioned rel physics in your bio.

I was led to post today as I worked with Tom for a few years and also remember his wife, another friend remembered that Tom went to work in rel physics. It’s been many years since I left HP, well, Agilent, give my best to Tom.

    Merry Christmas everybody,
    Pat in Sebastopol

Hi Bob, as long as you’re making corrections, I have one. The picture of your brother working with, what you call a pulaski, is a Mcleod.

Merry Christmas, Bob! Nor have I heard of pineapple guava so I’m really in the dark. I will have to Google them. :)
    Have a good day!

I’ve never heard of pineapple guava. Interesting. Your chickens are funny!! I suppose they do have rather small brains. It’s getting dark so get in a tree! Glad you got them back home or they would become someone’s dinner.
Merry Christmas … hope you enjoy the day!!
