Forest work
I got in Skiddy and headed out the driveway to go up into the hills to do some work.
I headed up this road as there was some stuff Skiddy could do on the way to where I was going.
I moved this log off the road that I’d cut up a few days or so ago.
Not far up the road, I pushed these trees and brush off the road.
Driveway project
I stopped on the way to pick up a load of rock that I put on my cousin’s driveway.
Then I worked on cleaning up their driveway so a fire truck could get up there. That big plant on the right disappeared.
Culvert project
After I got the driveway done, I drove the short distance to where I was working on the culvert repair. I added some rocky dirt over the culvert to widen the road out a bit.
I fixed the road up a bit to keep the neighbors that use this road happy.
A guy I knew came up the road that I knew so I stopped to shoot the bull with him for awhile. A guy named DE Carley.
The culvert project turned out pretty good. I have some more work to do there later on.
I picked up another load of rock and took it over to my neighbor’s driveway and spread it out.
After that, I headed on out down this main road, headed to the rock slide area to pick up a load of big rock to take down the hill to use in a spot as I headed home.
I’m headed down the hill with the load of rocks.
I dumped the load of rocks in this water crossing to help fill up this hole and prevent erosion when it rains hard. One more load might do it.
Bent tooth
While I was out working, I noticed my bucket wasn’t shutting all the way and I discovered I’d bent one of these teeth, one of them on the top right. So when I got home, I tried to bend it back with a sledge hammer. It only moved a little.
Heat needed
Tom happened to come by and suggested we needed some heat to bend it so we went over to his place and used his Oxyacetylene to heat it up and I used the sledge hammer to bent the teeth in a bit. You can see the heat marks where we heated up the inside teeth and now it fits properly. I don’t know how the teeth got bent as I only used the bucket clamp on some wooden logs.
Things are getting dusty up in the hills and I got real dusty today, so I hit shower and took it easy the rest of the day.
Nice day.
you are heavy into road maintenance lately. kind of fun apparently. I wouldn’t mind giving it a try….the equipment maintenance would be my downfall though.
Looks like you may have some chineseium metal in your bucket. Good American steel shouldn’t bend like that.
