Shopping
I’m getting older and can’t really do what I used to do, so time to get a new tool, ah, toy.
John Deere
I drove on over to the shopping center to look at some neat toys. The first place I stopped was John Deere.
This is the kind of toy I’m looking for, a track steer. I’m looking at new stuff because I’m tired of doing mechanicing stuff at my age.
I talked with the sales guy and he draw up some papers of what this one would cost, actually one just a tiny bit smaller, a 317g.
Kubota
This was the next place I stopped to have a look.
I checked out this model. The price of this one was just a little less than the Deere.
Bobcats
And the last place I stopped was the Bobcat place. These look ok too, but I dinged the sales guy for not giving me a price today. He said he’d email me the quote.
I’d like a six way dozer blade for the one I get. Cost about 10,000 bucks. The rest of the machines cost from 70 to 80 thousand which includes the dozer blade.
Any one of these machines would do the job and the prices of them are all pretty close, so now I have to decide.
I’d like to decide by next week so I can get one by then. Decisions, decisions.
Harbor Freight
From there I went on over to Harbor freight to buy a few tools I need. They had a Black Friday sale going on, but nothing I bought was on sale.
Talk it over
I headed on home from there and went over to Tom’s to talk about these toys and to get some fresh crab as he was out fishing yesterday.
Nice day.
Forgot to add, the dirtperfect guy had a case that the company let him use for showing it off and I think it had what looked like a great dozer blace attachement. I remember thinking that it was quite the machine.
I watch a lot on Youtube of guys who move dirt for a living. Letsdig18, dirtperfect for a couple, and they seem to prefef the Case and Deere most of the time. One of them had a real problem child with a Kubota, and nobody much runs bobcats. Seem they were bought out a few years ago and have gone downhill. Worth some of your time to look at some of these guys though, they really put them thru the paces. Glad to see you are up and running again. Thought something might have happened to you until one of the other blogs I read mentioned you were alive and well but your blog server was toast.
I’ll check them out.
Thanks,
Bob
If you’re on the fence, look at the manufacturer decal to see if it’s made in America.
A plus in my book.
Definitely something that I would like to have. Good luck with your decision.
Take all three for a test drive. I actually prefer Kobotas, but haven’t driven a John Deere. You are going to have so much fun with that!!! You can accomplish so much more than you can a shovel!!!
That is a big purchase. Never priced one, but not surprised.
Do they take trade ins or is it like a car and you get a better price selling the old one yourself? I like to “sleep on it” a day or two. My sleeping brain seems to figure it out. Have a nice day, Bob.
Nothing to trade in, but yes they do.
