Bridge Bulkhead Repairs and I Get My Clutch Cable

Bulkhead work

I wanted to get some work done on the bridge bulkhead today. I planned to fix the one on the right as the wood is slowly rotting away. I needed to start by getting all my tools that I thought I would need to do the job and then I needed to remove all the rocks at the bottom so I could install the steel sheets to the bottom, so that’s where I started by moving all the rocks out of the way.

I also moved all the rocks from the bottom of this one as it’s the other one I need to repair, but that’s all I got done on this one today.

Get it done

I got all the rocks out of the way and the tools and materials I’d need ready to go.

Then I put all the rocks back on the bottom and that one is done and so am I for the day, so I put the tools away.

One more thing

I did have enough energy to remove some of the dirt on the bridge top that I also need to repair once I figure out what I want to do to fix this hole. This is an old county bridge that was build after the flood of 1955. It’s mostly built of of redwood wood that lasts a long time and is decay resistant, one of the good properties of redwood. They moved the road so don’t use this bridge anymore, but we do.

Clutch cable and the post office

Yesterday I was disappointed that the clutch cable wasn’t delivered like it was supposed to be. The post office said the item was too big for my mail box and I  had to go to the post office to get it. What, I have an extra large mail box, so that sounded like bull to me.

Anyway I went down to the post office today to get my cable but they couldn’t find if. The guy said the mail lady didn’t work yesterday, so there was no delivery. Caught them in a lie about not fitting in the mail box. They looked for my cable but couldn’t find it as it was in the truck someplace. I figured it would get delivered today when she made her rounds.

So, I was waiting and watching for the delivery lady around 4PM.

I heard her first and went out to meet her, but she stopped and got away quick but at least the cable was in the box.

New cable

I checked the new cable size against the old one and it looked like it was the right one.

I got to work installing the clutch cable as I want to go for a bike ride tomorrow and I did get it installed, so I’m set to go.

Then I sat around in the yard for a bit watching the clouds go by.

And that was my day.

Nice day, good to have the motor bike fixed.
