Installing a Radiator Fluid Recovery Tank On the Van

Friday June 12, 2020 Guerneville CA.

Van work

Once I got it going today I took care of the chicken’s feed and checked their water. They were eager for some food, like always.

Then I chair hopped around the yard and sampled some blueberries and raspberries and enjoyed the day for a bit.

Bracket

Eventually I got started on working on installing a radiator fluid recovery tank in the van. I needed to work on the mounting bracket some more so did some more cutting and welding until I had it just right then put more paint on it.

After installing the bracket and trying the tank out in it, I had to take it off and do a few more modifications to make it all work right.

Hoses in the way

The heater hoses were in the way of the tank mounting spot so I had to drain the radiator fluid so I could make the heater hoses longer and reroute them around the tank. I was fortunate to have some small pieces of heater hose laying around as I needed to extend the heater hoses which I did.

I got the recovery tank mounted and tied down with tie wraps and things looked good.

Testing

So, I put the radiator fluid back in the radiator and started the engine to test things out, letting the engine warm up.

I checked under the van for leaks but there weren’t any which was good.

Clean up

So that meant I needed to put tools and things away and clean up my mess a bit.

Once that was all done there wasn’t much left of the day, just a little time for some more chair hopping before the day started to cool down a bit so I retired to the house.

That was my day.

Nice day.
