Spring pipe crossing work
The plan today was to see if I could get the pipe I cut up for the water spring pipe crossings up in the hills, up to where they were needed, up in the hills.
Needed a trailer
I got my old Toyota out and drove over to my brother’s garden to pick up the trailer I was going to use for the task.
I got it all hooked up without too much difficulty once I got it lined up right.
Then I drove on over to where I had the cut pieces of pipe stored and started loading it up.
Loaded up
I got it all loaded up and tied down and drove over to my place for a rest.
Chickens feed
I took care of the chickens and gave them some weeds to eat just to keep them happy. These are the younger chickens that don’t get out to graze much so I give them more weeds than the ones that do get out to graze, the larger ones.
I also turned on some sprinklers to help get the winters weeds started for the chickens to eat.
Moving the pipe
Eventually I drove the Toyota up into the hills with the pipe and stopped at this first crossing where I will use one piece of pipe which I dropped off.
With this piece of pipe dropped off I tied the load down again and drove up the hill a little ways more to the next crossing up ahead.
Trailers too heavy
Going up to this crossing I noticed the Toyota’s wheels were spinning a bit as the trailer with the heavy pipe was a bit too heavy for the light Toyota rig so I’d have to do something about that as I didn’t want to get sideways on a steep hill.
Plan change
I drove up a bit higher to this flat and dumped the pipe I’d need higher up. I disconnected the trailer and I used the rope to tie each piece of pipe to the Toyota and towed each piece up to each crossing
I dropped this piece here at the spring crossing where the spring is located.
Spring water
Since I was at the spring I got a nice fresh drink of water.
The next piece I took to this crossing.
Good idea
And I pulled this piece to this crossing. If I”d used the trailer I’d have had a hard time to turn around and would have had to drive way up the road to find a place to turn around, so just pulling each pipe was the way to go.
Last one
I got the trailer hooked back up and drove on down the hill to his spot just about the water tanks and dropped the last piece of pipe here.
I checked the water level in the tanks. We’d gained another foot last night so I’ll do some more watering in my yard.
The rest of the day I took it easy resting up my back and mostly puttered around the yard with the chickens.
Nice day.
Ingenuity … love it!!
Genius! I had no doubt you’d figure it all out. That looks like a heavy trailer before even adding the pipe. Goodjob!
