Forest work
I had some things to do up in the forest, so I got the chainsaw and some pipe materials to work on a spring and headed on up into the hills to do some work/exercise.
Apples
I did grab a couple of apples to eat later up on the hill. I mostly just eat the apples right off the trees. There are several kinds of apple trees around the area, so they ripen at different times and some are sweet and some are tart and they all have a lot of flavor right off the trees, like that.
Lots of work
I wasn’t expecting these trees to be down, but they were on the way to the spring so I stopped and had to cut them up and get them out of the way to get by.
Cut up
I got them all cut up into pieces I could move and took a break before cleaning this all up so I could pass.
That all took a couple of breaks to get done, but now I can get by so I headed to the spring I want to work on which is just down below this spot.
Spring area
I parked here by the spring and unloaded the parts to tap the spring.
Parts
These are the materials I’ll use to tap this spring. A ten foot piece of two inch PVC pipe, one two inch elbow and a two inch gutter down spout strainer and a stainless steel kitchen strainer.
Wash-up hole
I carved this little hole in the ground so I’d have a place to wash the mud off my hands. I made this in the spring runoff just below where I want to tap the spring.
The spring water is coming out of the hill in this spot, so I’ll have to dig it out a bit.
I stuck the pipe in there just to see how it would fit and what I’d need to do to make it fit right.
I hadn’t really planned to work on the spring today but just deliver the parts for working on it later, but I got carried away.
It was getting late in the day and I couldn’t see back in the tapping hole to see what I was doing so I stopped here and besides, I was tired out now and needed a break.
Break spot
I rode the short distance to this break area that has this view and rested up for a good while.
From there I rode on over to this little tree to remove it. It’s one I’d planned to remove and was easy to do. I knew there was another one, but I couldn’t remember where it was located. Next time for that one.
The Big mess
I knew about this big mess of downed trees. I was a bit tired out by now, but I decided to tackle it just the same, at least get it cut up.
Cut up and beat
So that’s what I did. I cut it all up into smaller pieces and removed a few of them, but left most of them to move for another time, as by now, I was really beat.
I could use a drink of water too, so I stopped here for a couple cups of fresh spring water which hit the spot.
Once home, it was nap time, actually past nap time. :O)
