Plans change

It was cool out today, so I put some lighter clothes on as I’d planned to do some trail work up in the hills but when I looked out the window my brother Barry was there with his dirt bike.

I went out and fed the chickens and told Barry to give me a minute so I could change into some warmer clothes which I did.

I put some gas in the bike and we were off stopping to get a couple of apples to eat later up in the hills.

We rode all around for about an hour going up and down and around and around. Then we rode up this ridge heading for the top of the hills where we usually take a a good break and just enjoy the day.

And the clouds were putting on a show up in the sky.

After a good break we took off again going down this road, likity split.

I let Barry go first as he likes to ride faster than I do and his bike has more power than the one I ride.

After a couple of hours riding we’ve had a good ride and gotten plenty of exercise. We get plenty of exercise because we ride in the hills which aren’t flat and it takes a good deal of exercise just to stay on the seat and on the bike.

We headed back to my house and Barry took off for his house.

I had some stuff to do that I was planning to do,………But.

The nap won out.

Darn squirrel

After a good rest I went outside for awhile looking around. That darn squirrel is eating lots of my avocados and looking at the tree ,I don’t think I’ll be able to keep it out of the tree as there’s another tree next to it that it can jump from into the avocado tree.

Pineapple guavas

He hasn’t found the pineapple guavas yet, but I did. They are just starting to get ripe and are pretty good.

Quad battery

Since my quad runner battery died the other day, I put the charger on it for a few days. So now, I’ll check the voltage and see if it will stay charged or not. I’ll do this for a few days to see if the charge holds or not. I don’t remember the battery being that old so I was surprised it had died. Maybe it was just a loose cable so I tightened them up.

Crab

Darn, I had to have crab for dinner again tonight. If you want fresh crab you have to eat it while it is fresh. I pigged out again. Yummy.

Putter day

That’s the kind of day it turned out to be.

I broke my mirror off my car the other day when my kayak fell off while I was loading it up. I didn’t know I’d broken it off until I heard this thing rattling around on the way home, which turned out to be the broken mirror hitting the side of the car from the wind.

So, today I was going to take it apart and see what I needed to do to fix it as finding a new one wasn’t working out very well.

I got it all apart and cleaned it all up. Epoxy it or get it welded up? It’s aluminum and I don’t have a welder for that, but my friend Joe does, so maybe I’ll see if he’ll weld it up for me as I don’t think the epoxy will hold it as well.

I put the mirror aside for now and will think about it, but right now I needed a break so I did some chair hopping as the sun warmed up the yard as it came over the hills to my East.

Avocados

Something has been eating my avocados. I thought it might be the rats and it was a bushy tailed one. A small red squirrel seems to be the one as I caught it coming down the tree with a game cam.

I might have to put something around the trunk of the tree to stop that if it keeps it up.

Van’s windshield wipers

I’ve tried twice to buy new wipers for the van and both times the mounting part wasn’t right. Seems the van is getting old and they don’t seem to be making some of the older stuff or at least it’s not so easy to find the right thing.

I spent a good deal of time looking for some adapters for it and  maybe I’ve found some and need to get them ordered up.

Other than that, I just puttered around the yard with the chickens, going from chair to chair, just like I always do.

Fresh rock fish

I had crab for dinner and shortly after that, my brother Tom brought  me by some cleaned and bagged fresh rock fish. Seems he likes to fish in the ocean a lot which is also good for me. :O) He’d been out all day and just got back.
