Armstrong Valley Farm’s New Roadside Stand

New roadside stand

My neighbor Dominique said my brother Tom and her were going to open a new roadside stand today for the first time to sell their products.

It was right across from my front gate about a quarter mile in front of Armstrong State Reserve park.

And they had a nice little stand set up with all the goodies for sale.stand2

 

Dominique is a pastry chef and usually sells her stuff at Farmer’s markets.sstand1

 

Along with her baked goods and fresh made jams she  has some of the fruits and vegetables Tom grows for the Farmer’s markets.dom3

 

Dominique uses fruit from local sources so nothing is sprayed on them and they are picked fresh so have lots of flavors.

She baked some turnovers. Apple, peach and blueberry.turnovers4

 

And some blueberry scones and cookies of some type.scones5

And she made these jams yesterday, mostly peach I believe.jams7

 

Open on weekends

She plans to be open for business on weekends starting today and did fairly well today considering it was the first day open.

After I checked that out I went back to my house and cooked up something to eat.

Checking out the Wi-Fi signals in the neighborhood

I wanted to find out how well wi-fi was reaching around the neighborhood so I took my phone and walked all around my house and the neighbor’s to check signal strength. It was surprisingly good. Once I figure out how to get the extenders to work we will all have real good coverage.

That darn security key

I just need to find out where they are hiding the network security key so I can finish setting up the extenders which I’m still trying to figure out where they are hiding that darn security key. Usually the key is on a label on the router but not this unit.

Taking it easy

After that some chair hopping and taking it easy the rest of the day.

New peeps doing well

I did check on the new peeps to make sure they are doing ok. Now that I’ve run the big rat off I haven’t lost anymore of the little peeps.peeps9

Chain Work and Nathan McMahon, the Hermit, Passes On

Bike maintenance

Every once and awhile one should check one’s chain on the dirt bike which I hadn’t done in some time and it could use oiling too. I got the jack out and set things up.

But first I did read the book on how and what to do to set the tension properly.

I checked the chain’s tension and it was close enough so didn’t mess with it.

Then I applied plenty of oil to the chain and that was done.bike

 

Peeps

I checked on the new peeps which were doing just fine. The hen didn’t hatch out any more eggs so that’s all I got. I do have one more hen sitting on eggs so I’m hopeful for some more peeps.peeps

 

The  Hermit passes on

Around 3, I got an email from the guy that has been helping out the hermit saying he’d just passed away at his house. I hadn’t heard from him in awhile and wasn’t sure where he was and I guess I’m still not sure just exactly where he went as he departed earth.

I looked for pictures of him I might have and could only find a few.

I’ve known him since I was 11 years old. May he rest in peace.

Trying to get on my brother’s fast internet

I spent the rest of the day trying to hook up what they call an extender to get the Wi-Fi signal from his house to mine. I got hooked up, but then it asked for a security key which I couldn’t find so that didn’t get done. I’ll continue to work on it as time permits.
