Trail work day
I didn’t feel like I had much energy once I got it going today. After all the trail work a couple days ago I was pretty worn out. Older age means it takes longer to recoup after a good work out so I was dragging my butt today.
I was supposed to meet the two guys up at the trail today so I headed on up to the Hermit’s around noon.
I went up and had a good chat with the Hermit for a bit. The guys truck wasn’t in the yard so I suspected they might not of showed up today unless they went in up the road.
Lots of ash
Eventually I left the Hermit cleaning his house and started on up to the trail area we were working on, going through here. There’s about 6 inches of ash on the ground from the recent forest fire. It will be interesting to see what happens to it when it rains this winter.
I worked my way up through here to get up to the trail area higher on the hill.
I worked on laying out the trail through this spot as it was on the way up.
No guys
When I got up to where we were working on the pipe line trail the guys weren’t there so they must have had something better to do today.
Hard work
I worked on the trail busting rock and moving dirt for about an hour before I was too warn out to continue. I obviously need more rest days between work days doing this kind of work.
I think the guys are going to do most of it and I’ll mostly supervise.
Anyway they know what to do pretty much so I’ll leave them at it until I come back from my desert trip which I’ll be off on in about a week.
Better mood
I went back down to the Hermit’s and finished out our chat. He seemed to be in a better mood today and wasn’t grumbling about how I wanted to do things.
Napping
I headed on down the hill to my house and spent most of the afternoon napping as I was beat and just couldn’t get it going for the rest of the day.
Roosting chickens
Near dark I went out to shut the chickens in. These are my younger chickens on their roost.
And these are some of the older chickens on their roost. The rooster has his hens all around him.
The plan
It’s good to be retired and just do what needs to be done each day which means I can rest up when I need to instead of pushing when I don’t need to.
So I will rest and let the 2 young guys do most of the work. Sounds like a good plan to me. :O)
Nice day.
I agree with AG above about how you are making decisions.
Oh and I guess it is true. Birds of a feather do flock together!
The young ones are talking about how naggy the elders are. :)
You deserve to rest, I think!
If the Hermit isn’t physically able to go up and check to see how the work is being done and you are willing to supervise the guys, I’d say it’s your decision on how the work is facilitated. JMHO. Love the chickens on their roosts all settled in for the night. Rest up and take care.
