Mushroom hunting
I was chair hopping around the yard this morning when my brother Barry drove in with his dirt bike.
He said he wanted to go wild mushroom hunting up in the hills, so I got my bike out and joined him.
The hunt
This was the first place we stopped to have a look around. We mainly ride the dirt bikes to a spot and stop and hike around a bit looking for mushrooms then move on to the next spot to have a look.
Barry thinks he may have one here by the downed tree on the ground.
Good one
Lion’s Mane
We rode over to another spot and were about to leave when Barry said he saw some Lion’s Mane up by a downed tree on the ground so we stopped and he climbed up the hill to have a look.
He had to get down low to harvest them from under the log.
No luck here
We rode up to this spot and had a look around but no luck.
Barry was riding through here looking for mushrooms when he got stuck on that little tree and had to get off and pull his bike back off it. Good place for mushrooms but there where none in this spot.
Hill tops
Eventually we made it up to the Top of the World where we sat down for a good break.
We rode around some more. Barry found a few mushrooms today but I didn’t. I’ll have to keep on looking another day.
Tom has some
We headed back to my house and went over to talk with my brother Tom who had been hunting mushrooms a day or so ago.
These are one of the types we were looking for that
Tom found the other day. This is one of the most sought after mushrooms in this area, called a Cacara or something like that, not sure of the spelling.
Well, that was a good day for a ride and some hiking around in the forest for some exercise, even though I didn’t find any mushrooms.
Nice day.
Those mushrooms are huge! I wouldn’t know what to look for that was edible.
