Forest road check
I rode on up into the hills to check on the park dirt road as it rained quite hard last night and this morning, but it let up about noon.
All seemed to be ok with no real water problems, but there’s much more rain to come.
Dozer Starter
I stopped at the dozer to try and figure out why it won’t start.
The dozer won’t start and I’ve been having some trouble figuring out why. I checked and cleaned all the battery cable connections but still no go. I was getting ready to pull the starter out to check it out, but still wasn’t sure there was anything wrong with the starter. It just didn’t seem to want to turn over much, like the battery was bad, but I charged it up and it showed good voltage.
I’d brought up a new battery to try. I tried jumping it with the new battery, but still no go.
But I did notice the jumper cables where getting hot after I tried to start it.
I decided to take out the old battery and put the new battery in. That worked, so now I don’t have to pull the starter out. Great. It seems the old battery was pulling the new battery down for some reason.
I was happy to get that one figured out.
Pond
So now that I had the work done, I went for a ride on the way home. I stopped at the pond to make sure it’s drain ditch was working right and it was.
I drove on up to the overlook and found it fairly socked in, a bit foggy.
I had to stop and throw this small tree off the road.
And there’s always sticks and rocks to throw off roads.
As I drove by this culvert, I noticed a log in it blocking it’s entrance a bit.
I removed this small log so things don’t get plugged up.
Back home
It seemed like a nice day for a fire so I started one with some old firewood and fruit tree trimmings and sat around and enjoyed it for most of the afternoon.
A nice little camp fire to sit around.
And just before dark, I shut the chickens up for the night.
Nice day.
