Nice to be back on the water
Steve said he’d meet me at Jenner this morning. I’ve been so busy working on the van project I haven’t been getting on the water much, so I was looking forward to a paddle.
Steve was in the parking lot when I arrived and putting his boat in the water. I backed down the boat ramp and unloaded my boat and started across to Penny Island. The wind was supposed to be up today and it already was a little, but not too bad.
Down river
Steve joined me and we eventually decided to head down along the island headed to the lower end along here.
Up river
We only went a short distance and we both decided to head back up river as the wind was starting to pick up some more, so we turned and headed back up along the island.
We went by these geese and some ducks feeding on the weeds growing in the water.
Birds hunkered down
Just a little further we paddled by this egret trying to avoid the wind.
We took our time paddling up along the shoreline. Across the river from us we could see these white pelicans hunkered down in the wind.
The Grotto
We paddled on up to what I call the grotto and pulled into the spot which is out of the wind. We spent a good deal of time here just enjoying the day and staying out of the wind.
Seal buddy follows along
As we paddled along to get to this spot, one of my buddy seals would pop up occasionally, sorta like saying hi.
Headed over to Paddy’s rock
Eventually Steve wanted to go to Paddy’s rock which was across the river from us and down a little bit, so we crossed over. I could see a bunch of birds in the grass there.
Mostly geese and a couple egrets staying out of the wind.
Down below Paddy’s rock I could see the white pelicans resting on the gravel.
Steve goes to shore for a break
Steve went ashore on the gravel by Paddy’s rock, but I stayed in my boat.
After awhile we headed on down the river going by the pelicans.
The wind was blowing pretty good by now as we headed towards the boat ramp.
I passed by these pelicans on the upper end of Penny Island. They were hunkered down in the wind.
We crossed on over to the boat ramp and went on home for the day.
Reset the van computer
I had a bit of a nap, and then went out to look at some things on my van but wasn’t really planning to work on it. I did unhook the battery to reset the computer now that I have an O two sensor on it, I thought it would be good to start fresh.
Taking it easy
Otherwise, I just took it easy and puttered around in the yard until after dark.
That was my day for a good one.
