Rebar gate construction
After letting the chickens out this morning to graze I got my tools out to cut some rebar to construct some walk through gates. I planned to build 4 of them.
Cutting up rebar
I got all the rebar cut up and set up the arc welder to weld the parts together.
Welding up the rebar
I’m welding up the rebar parts here to form a gate.
Welded up and ready for wire
Here’s the last one I built number 4 ready for some wire but not today.
I worked on and off on the gates throughout the day and finally got them all welded up late in the day.
I heard a little peep
I was in the chicken pen putting out some feed when I heard a little peep so I had a look in the nesting box where momma has been sitting on some eggs for the last 21 days or so. The little chick is in the corner peeping away. This is just as momma came back after feeding. She was away that’s why the little guy was peeping.
Here it is
It’s a very small chick I hope it makes it. I put it under the momma hen and closed the box up. Hope some more eggs hatch soon.
I spent the rest of the day puttering around doing some watering and taking it easy.
And that was my day for a good one.
Nice job on the gates, Bob. You’d be a handy guy to live close to with all your tools! :)
Welcome to #1 baby chick! So cute!
Sounds like a productive day like your gates.
More baby chicks you will be having a huge flock before you know it.
