Dozer battery needs charged up
Our bulldozer sits up in the hills parked and slowly the battery goes dead, so it needs charging once in awhile. Now I could bring it home and put it on the charger, but that’s no fun.
So instead, I go up and run the dozer around our roads a bit, mostly pushing downed trees off the roads, so that’s what was planned for the day.
Getting things together
I sat around this morning planning and getting what I needed to do the job onto the quad runner I was going to ride up on. I needed a grease gun, so I got that and a rag and I needed a hammer and nails to put a water line higher in a tree that’s been sagging a bit.
When I thought I had everything I needed I headed on up that way along this road. Some foxgloves are blooming.
Greased her up but no earplugs
When I got to where the dozer was parked I greased it up and was looking for my ear plugs as the dozer is a bit noisy, especially the squeaking tracks. But I had forgotten them and remembered they were on my computer desk. I was about to ride home to get them when I decided to be resourceful. I checked for my pocket knife, but I didn’t’ have it, so what to do.
Make some
I thought some little sticks might do the job, I needed to make them big enough so they wouldn’t get pushed into my ears and short too, or I figured I’ve have other problems.
So I looked around for a little stick about the right size and found a small hole in the metal on the tractor to push the stick in to break it off short.
It took a few tries, but eventually I got these which worked out ok and knocked out the worst squeaks at least.
These are my improvised ear plugs.
Start up the dozer
The dozer started right up so I headed down the hill to the water tanks pushing trees off the road when I ran into them.
I made it to the water tanks and stopped for a drink of water at the tanks overfill pipe.
Drink at the water tanks
I got a drink here at the tanks overfill pipe.
I continued on down and across the creek and started up the hill again and cleared off these little trees.
Further up the road I ran into this bigger tree mess which the dozer made short work of.
I continued on up the road until I was at a level near where I’d parked the quad runner.
A little walk
I parked the dozer and walked about a half a mile to the quad runner and hopped on that and rode on down the hill.
Boy was I pooped out
Once home I realized I was pretty pooped out, so I napped for a bit, but that didn’t help much as far as being pooped.
I moved some of the brush from the tree I fell yesterday in the yard and did some planning on more yard projects.
Which means I mostly just sat around the yard the rest of the day, doing what I call chair hopping.
That was my day.
