Wednesday April 6, 2016 Jenner CA.
The day was looking good
When I got it going this morning, I was so tired out, I almost stayed home. Seems the new antihistamines the doc gave me yesterday really make me sleepy as the doc said they would. Only trouble, they’re still making me sleepy after it’s time to get up, so maybe I won’t do any more of those.
I drove on down to Jenner and put my boat in to a real nice day with low wind and the sun was out. I paddled across to Penny Island and sat here for a while.
What happened to all those cormorants
I noted this cormorant fishing out there in front of me. So, what happened to all those cormorants that came to dine on the dumb hatchery fish that were released this winter?
The cormorants came and were dining good, but then it rained some more and the river came up and it appears all the little fish washed out to sea. Whether that is good or bad for the fish I have no idea, but at least the cormorants didn’t’ get too many of them, but something else likely did? As far as I can tell most of the cormorants have left and are nesting somewhere else.
Resting along the way
I was still feeling real tired out, so I mostly just stopped and rested along here slowly working my way down that way trying to keep my eyes open.
There were a number of these little gulls on the water today which just seemed to be floating around on the water.
Headed to the mouth
Eventually, I headed across the water towards the open river’s mouth which looked like this.
There were quite a few harbor seals pulled out on the beach.
I paddled all the way down to the end of the river which has filled up with sand during the winter, so this was as far as I could get.
Open mouth
I edged over closer to the open mouth, being careful as it was just coming off high tide and the current would soon pick up a bit.
Looking out to sea
I stopped in this spot for a bit to check things out.
I went past these harbor seals sitting on a big submerged rock and keeping an eye on me as I passed.
Seals are molting
I passed by these two harbor seals. If you look closely, you can see they are molting and getting a new coat for the summer.
Headed in for the day
I just couldn’t stop yawning today, so I started heading back in for the day, even though it was still early going up this side of the island.
Green water shoe caper
As I approached the boat ramp, two guys were just pulling in with their kayaks, so I pulled up and waited for them to clear the ramp. I watched them load their boats, then walk back down the ramp and put a green pair of water shoes on that were sitting on the rocks by the ramp and they got in their truck and left.
Later that night I got an email from Patti asking if I saw a pair of green water shoes on the ramp as someone left them there and was wondering what happened to them?
I learned the hard way too
I learned early on the hard way that one should only put things in the boat or in the car, but never on the ground or on the car, or things will get forgotten and lost,….. gone. I lost a good paddle that way.
At home I had good intensions, but I was just too tired out, so I moped around the house and the yard, but just couldn’t get it going, nor could I get to sleep. I was just tired out. No more of those pills. :O) I want some sleep, but I don’t want to be feeling all tired out all day.
That was my day.
Hi Candee,
You nailed the problem alright. I usually sleep from 2am to 9am and that is too late to take the pills, so I’d need to take them much earlier, or as you suggest take less. But I think I’m past the time of needing them, so I will try to do without them and see if I can get back to something more normal, as the Steroid cream seems to be doing it’s job now that I’ve figured out how to use that effectively and hopefully in a few days, I may not need that either.
Thanks for the comment.
Bob
Hi Bob, try taking your pills much earlier in the evening so the effect will wear off before morning. Or do the above but try 1/2.
