I think I’m getting tired of working on this as I had a hard time getting into it today. It might have had something to do with the warm day too.
I finally dug up this anti critter digging wire and buried it just to get started.
Last side panel
Then I attached the wire to this last side panel.
I installed it and time for a break.
Down with this tree
I was eyeing this plum tree that was almost falling over from a larger tree falling on it a few years ago. It’s plums aren’t very good either so I wanted to cut it down and up into fire wood.
But I remember the chainsaw was dull from when I used it to cut a stump in the ground out which really can dull a saw.
Suns going down
It took awhile and I waited until the sun went down and I sharpened up the chainsaw and attacked the tree.
This is all that’s left of that tree. I have plans for this area.
Making this pile smaller
I’m finding that this brush pile has been getting in my way so I might have to move some of it. I used the chainsaw to try to cut it up into smaller pieces at least on the sides so I can move some of it without too much trouble.
I also did some planning on where I want some new water faucets I need to install. Once I figure that all out I’ll need to make a trip to get parts.
Patsy tells me there’s something going on with her sign in name in comments. I haven’t done anything but I think it has something to do with the new EU privacy policy thing that they are trying to get ironed out. I hear other bloggers saying something to that effect.
Getting started is slow in the morning
Once I got started today I attached all the wire to these two side panels and then drug them over to where they are used by the green coop back there.
Shaping up
I installed the two side panels and the pen is starting to shape up.
After that I worked on clearing out the overgrown brush under that plum tree. The plum tree isn’t a good one and is falling over so I’m going to cut it up for firewood but I didn’t get to that today except for clearing out some of the brush, blackberry vines and ivy.
No dig critter fence
After a good break I watered down this fence as I need to bury the bottom part which is the anti critter digger part. I dig under the fence then bend the bottom wire down into the ground and then bury it. Watering down the ground first makes digging real easy. I’m burying it from this side as the apple tree makes it hard to do from that side which is the outside.
I dug part of it up and have bent the wire down and am putting the dirt back in the ditch.
Fixing the sag
I noticed the fence was sagging a bit at the corner so I put this lever under it to pick up the fence a bit then packed in the dirt to keep it there.
Making a chicken water container
I’ve been thinking about a watering device for the chickens and I thought this old jug might make an acceptable one. I drew on it and cut it out, removing the middle section.
Here’s the finished product. My holes might be too big for the new little peeps, but my brother Tom says he has something for the little peeps as far as water goes anyway.
Last side panel cam wait
I just couldn’t get into putting the wire on this last side panel so it will keep until tomorrow.
Gardening a bit
Instead I transplanted these zucchini plants to their new homes on the mounds.
Chickens need doors
I also put the wire on these two little chicken doors I’m making.
I got one of them installed. They are so the chickens can go into other pens when I want them to. Mainly I need to keep them out long enough to get things growing enough so they can’t destroy the plants too fast eating them.
Need new water pipes
I also did some thinking on some planning for some water pipes as right now I have hoses running all over the place so I need to bury some new water lines. I like lots of faucets.
That pretty much wrapped it up for me today. Nice day.
There are over a hundred pictures that are served up randomly every time you visit or change pages. They are of earlier pictures of interest and also some just to remind me of things.
A Sony AX33 4K, a video camera that takes stills too. What am I doing with that? I take pictures from my Kayak a lot. I found I was missing interesting shots, because my pic was being processed in my camera, before it would let me take another pic. Since I like to take what I call action stills, I bought this camera to take videos, that I could make stills out of, but, as a bonus, this camera also came with buttons to just take stills and that's what I mostly do, unless something is real interesting or too far away for my still zooms. My digilat zoom setting for video goes to two hundred x, and sometimes I need that, but usually, I only use the 10x lens zoom. Because this camera is HD and 4K, the quality has to be real good and it has a lot of stabilizers on it which really helps out a lot for taking pics on the water.
The other thing it has that is a must is a view finder and I had to buy Sony's top of the line cam to get it. This is a must for taking pics on the water, as you must hold the camera as still as posible and putting that eye piece to the eye forms a tripod with your arms that helps a lot. The eye piece is also a must as it works way better than a LED screen to see what you are taking a picture of in the daylight as the LED screens wash out easily in sunlight.
I also have another video camera, a Canon VIXIA G30. I use them both to mostly take stills. The Sony takes higher resolution stills than the G30. That was a bit of a disappointment as I bought the G30 to replace an older camera I dunked in the river, but then had to buy the Sony to get higher still picture resolution that the G30 was lacking.
