It seemed like a good day to just stay home and get things together
I had one last chore to do before I leave tomorrow. I needed to go to Monte Rio and help a friend out with an electrical problem, so that’s what I did when I got going this morning. It was just a little job, so it didn’t take long.
I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and got a few items to eat for my trip. I was going to go to Costco, but decided not to as it would take a lot of time. Besides, I can stop at one in Twin Falls ID when I have to go there for gas and supplies later in my trip, so that will keep. I think I have enough to keep me fed until then.
I came home and sorta washed the outside of the van, well, I mostly knocked the mud off. I painted under the van a little with some black paint where there was a little rust. Loaded some little things here and there and did a little organizing of things too. Checked the engine for oil and water, battery posts cleaned off, ready to go I think. And greased the back drive line too.
I filled a couple gallon jugs with water and put them in my freezer to freeze. These go into my ice box and will provide me with a cold box for about a week, then I will just do without and I will drink up that water. I have more perishables starting out on the trip, but as I go, I will only buy perishables for a day or so, after I hit a town. I’ll use a lot of stuff that doesn’t have to be keep cold, most of the time on this trip.
My adventure to Jarbidge, NV. begins tomorrow
My plan is to get out of here sometime between ten and eleven in the morning.
I still have to check the map, but I’m thinking of going out past Calistoga, over to Sacramento, CA. and north up seventy, I think it is, and by Orville, CA. and on over to Quincy, Ca. I’m not sure if I’ll camp before or after I hit Quincy at this time. I still need to look at the maps a final time.
From Quincy, I plan to head east to Winnemucca, NV, though the desert, going out Smoke Creek Ranch Rd, past black rock desert, Sulfur town/mine and on to Winnemucca, staying a ways north of highway eighty.
I’ll head sorta north east from there.
I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get internet, so I may not be heard from for a few days at a time on and off. I should be able to post in Winnemucca, if not before.
All I have left to do is check the tires for air pressure and clean the windows and I should be off.
Nice day getting things ready to go.
