Kayaking in the evening
Today was a dentist day. I’m changing dentists, so I had my first appointment today. In some ways, not good, but in some ways good. She found two crowns that were not seated properly when they were installed and needed to be replaced. Only twenty four hundred dollars. Ouch. But at least she found them and no matter how you look at it, they need to be replaced.
The new dentist seems to know what she is doing, so I was happy with that.
After the appointment, I came home and had a nap, until around three when I got ready to go down to Jenner to kayak. I planned an evening yak today. Sometimes it’s just nice to go down late and stay until dark, or almost dark and enjoy the evening and sunset.
I was in the water around four pm. The sun was out and there was a light breeze. No one else on the water. I headed across the river to the island and up the south side of the river for about a half mile where I just took it easy for a couple hours, then as the sun was headed down I headed back down the river, going down the back side of Penny Island. Not much happening in that area, but as I rounded the end of the island, there were quite a few harbor seals in the water swimming around doing whatever harbor seals do in the water at that time of day.
I worked my way down to the river’s mouth where I sat around for another hour or so watching what was going on. Not much, just some birds flying around and some seals in the water.
As the sun set, I took some pics of it and then headed back just before dark. I pulled my boat out of the water at about eight PM and went on home.
Below, you can see some of the lazy seals on the beach by the river’s mouth. The sun is going down making them appear on the red side.
Below is a picture looking out the river’s mouth, just before the sun went down.
Below is another picture of the sun going down near the river’s mouth. Birds and seals on the beach.
As I headed back to the visitor’s center, I took this last shot of the sun going down, as you can see below.
It was a nice leisurely evening. Had a nice day.
