Bike ride
Barry showed up and went off to ride the steep stuff without me.
When he returned we rode on up into the hills to do the not so steep stuff.
Game cam
I moved a game cam to this spot using the new tree mounts I got the other day. It’s in the tree on the left. See it?
The cam blends in pretty good when in a tree. I like it in the trees as it has a better view and there aren’t a lot of things close up for it to focus on which messes up the focus on longer shots.
Trimming brush
After we got that chore done, we rode off for a ride around the hills and stopped here to remove some brush overhanging the road. Barry set his glasses on the front of his bike seat and forgot about them when we took off.
Lost glasses
After a mile or so and a couple of stops down the road, he realized he’d forgotten about the glasses and they were no longer on the seat.
We rode on back to where he last saw them on the seat, coming up the back way so we didn’t run over them. He started from there, walking up the road where we had been and was gone a long time.
I trimmed some brush and threw rocks off the road waiting for him to return and eventually sat on the larger log to rest up until he returned.
He had to walk almost all the way across the property looking for his glasses and didn’t find them until his return trip.
Drink of water
With all that walking Barry needed a drink of water so we rode over to the nearest spring for a drink of water.
We rode around and eventually ended up at our break spot on this ridge top.
Shiny thing
I could see something shiny on the furthest ridge from us. I couldn’t make it out even with my camera’s zoom as it was too smoky.
After awhile when the sun had moved a bit I could make it out a little but the smoke was still pretty bad. A house, I think on a ranch, the one on the left.
We rode around some more, then we headed back to my house and Barry took off for his house.
Big stump removal
After a break at my house, I got back on the bike and rode up to this trail where I was working on digging this stump off the pipeline trail.
I dug and cut roots for a couple of hours and put the dirt on the trail to widen it out.
I was digging around the back of the stump and cutting roots as I went and got it this far, so far. I still have some more digging to do to get it out, but it’s coming along.
Nice day.
It is a great accomplishment when the stump finally releases from the ground. I’ve had to remove some bad decisions I made after in the ground a few years. None that big though. Had cut down a small magnolia after a hurricane. Left to sit a few years, noticed it moved one day when I stepped on it and the sand was loose. My son pulled it out with ease. Sure didn’t expect that. Enjoy your exercise, Bob.
*the word stump should’ve been in there somewhere one more time:o)
