Forest Ride, Garden Work and a Stump and a Dam

Forest ride

Barry showed up this morning so we went for a ride up into the forest.

But first we stopped to see Tom for a bit. He was planting some stuff in his garden. Garlic and cabbage I think.planting1

We left Tom at it and rode on up into the hills taking this trail.trail4

Trail cam mounts

I’d gotten these new trail cam mounts a few days ago so I put up two more trail cams to try them out.bracket

They screw into wood/trees and have a swivel on them to adjust the cam. So far, I like them real well.cam3

Drink time

After putting the two trail cams up we rode around a bit and stopped at this spring for a drink of water.spring5

Some more riding around and we made it up to our break area for a break.view6

We were headed back when we ran into this small tree across the road.limb7

We stopped to see how Tom was doing planting his garden. He was just finishing up and taking a break.garden8

Potatoes

Tom offered Barry some potatoes.tatters8

So they dug some up.tatters9

Stump

Barry took off for home and I rode back up to this pipeline trail I’ve been working on getting opened up.

This stump is on the trail and needs to be removed.

I decided to dig it out and cut the small roots to get it out.stump12

I worked on that for a bit until I needed a break. It will take a few more times working on it before I get it out of the way.cutstump13

Then I walked down the trail a bit as there was something else I wanted to work on.trail

Old dam

There used to be a dam in the creek here to catch the spring water. I wanted to try and get the steel pipes out of the creek. There was also a big redwood log laying under the pipes that needed to go, so I worked on chopping it up with the Pulaski.pipes10

I chipped away at the redwood log until I got tired out. It was a good start, but it’s going to take some more work. I’m not sure how the pipes are stuck in there, but they are pretty solid.chopped11

That was enough work for one day. I rode on home and sat with the chickens in the yard.

Nice day.

One Response to Forest Ride, Garden Work and a Stump and a Dam

Yes, I would agree that was enough work. So was Tom’s; argh, the bending over. Still entranced by water coming out of the mountain in so many places.
