Shopping and Visiting and Digging the Ditch

Wednesday April 9, 2014 Guerneville CA.

Today, I went to Costco to do some shopping and then went over to visit some friends. We worked on their computers a bit and did some visiting.

I was home late in the afternoon and thought it might be a good day to do some more digging on the water line ditch I started the other day.

I dug, rested and dug and rested and dug some more. There were a lot of roots by the tree, which slowed me down a bit and played on my back too. But once I got past those nasty ol roots, the ditch started to get a bit easier to dig, if you can call digging ditches easy? :O)

There were some daffodil plants in the way which I dug up. I will separate the bulbs and replant them in the ditch when I fill it up. That should make for a nice show in the spring.

Here is the the ditch, almost twenty feet of it dug so far. I was looking at how far I have to dig the ditch and it turned out to be longer than I thought. About two hundred feet. A little at a time will get it dug. Note the clumps of daffodil plants.digditch

I was willing to dig more, but my body was putting out signals that I should stop, so I did and just sat around and enjoyed the yard until it started to get cool with the evening.

That wraps up the day.

Hi, I stumbled onto your blog today. Might be coincidence, because I need a trench dug here too!
Contemplating doing it after the frost has left the ground. There is too much water running where it shouldn’t and it needs to be drained away. Planting daffodils in the ditch is an idea!
