Wednesday March 1, 2023 Guerneville CA.
I heard a truck outside this morning. It was Barry with his dirt bike. He was going for a ride up in the hills. My bike was down with a bad starter so I couldn’t go.
Strawberry planters upgrade
Instead, I was going to work on the strawberry planter boxes in the blueberry pen.
I really like this way of growing strawberries, but I have a problem pulling out weeds with big root balls on them because I didn’t make the cutouts in the pipe big enough to get the dirt out easily.
There’s three planter boxes I have to fix up and replant the dormant berry plants in them with new dirt.
The plan was to cut more plastic off so the planter opening would be just half of the pipe so root balls would be pulled out easily. I marked the side I wanted to cut,
I used my power saw to cut off this strip.
Much better
It was much easier to get the dirt out now. I pulled it all out so I could get the old strawberry plants out of the dirt to replant in new dirt I put in the planters.
Graphing plum trees
Before I got them replanted my brother Tom walked by and said he could use some help graphing some plums. So, I stopped what I was doing and went over to help him out as he needed some advice on the subject.
I prepped the cuttings. They are off a real good plum. A plumcot or something like that. It’s a nice big tasty plum.
And he prepped the trees for the cuttings.
And got all the cuttings installed. He will put some goop on them to seal them up.
Back at the planter boxes
I still had enough time to get the strawberries planted before dark so I worked on that and got it all done. Now, it’s up to them to produce some strawberries. Yummmy.
My view of the sunset as the sun went down behind the hills to my west as I sat in my chair enjoying the evening.
Nice day.
Agriculture. Good work. No wonder you have so many edibles around there.
This idea is great! I had to zoom in to see what was holding the planters up.
They must be heavy. Great job!
I’m surprised you have no snow up in your neck of the woods too!
What? No Snow?
There is nothing like the end of a productive day.
