Just a bread making day
When I got up this morning, I thought I should go kayaking, but the wind was up a bit and I really needed to get some bread baked for a present to my aunt, who’s having her ninety year birthday tomorrow. She likes it for toast, so it’s the least I can do.
I thought I could get this bread made and go down for a late day kayak this evening. And maybe I could get some weed mowing in too.
I started this project a couple days ago when I started making yeast in what is called a starter. So, I got my big bowl out and mixed all the stuff together and did the kneading and put the dough in a loaf pan and I also made another batch of pull aparts for me. I put these aside to rise.
In the mean time, I got the mower out again but took a break instead. It was a lot of work getting that bread to rise, I didn’t’ get any of the other work done I thought I would, just too lazy. Later in the day, I put the mower away again, maybe next time. It was rather cool in my house today, so that bread really took a lot of work to get it to rise, or at least a lot of waiting. :O)
The bread wasn’t ready to bake until about six PM, so it didn’t look like I was going to get down to the river to kayak today, either.
I baked the bread and the pull aparts. I had a hard time getting the loaf out of the pan, and for a bit there, I thought my aunt might not get her loaf, except in pieces, but it finally gave and fell out of the pan.
I hurriedly took some pics, hurriedly so I could have some of those pull aparts. Boy were they good. I ate three of them, so far. :O)
Below, you can see the nice loaf I made on the left and the pull aparts on the right. About half of the pull aparts disappeared shortly after this picture was taken. :O)
This bread turned out real well, it must have been all the work I did to make it rise? :O) I think my Aunt will like her loaf.
Had a nice day.
